More about the canal

Just some more things about the canal.  Being here at one of the shipping routes is truly amazing.  The container ships have their decks stacked with up to 10 levels of containers, then there are the car transporters, some of the ugliest boats you can imagine (a wall of steel, with an ugly bridge, often near the bow).  The speed with which the level changes is crazy, it empties faster than when you pull your plug from the bath tub.  But now from a 1000 ft x 300 ft size bath tub.

There are a number of web cams on some of the bridges and locks.  Next time I will go through I will try to give an estimated time about when I should be where and when.

Right now I don´t expect to through with my own boat for at least another week (waiting on the fore stay to be fixed).

Hey Frank! Enjoyed your canal stories and do hope you will be able to predict your crossing times so I can try to spot you on the webcams. The Herring boys are in Belize now getting ready to race tomorrow. I think you will want to check all those stays carefully before venturing out in to the Pacific!
