Going through again

I will be leaving tonight on a French sail boat (a delivery boat, brand new on its way to Tahiti).  So, tomorrow (Wednesday) between noon and 2 in the afternoon we should be at the second set of locks.

The rigging parts had not been shipped as of yesterday.  The Miami boat show was last week, meaning that the supplier was not shipping anything (one of those times you can not blame the Caribbean or South American pace for this).  So, I will be keeping busy by trying to help out other boats through the canal.  Went on a Union 37 last Friday.

Hopefully tomorrow I can go to the charts store and have a look at some charts and pilots for the Pacific.  Also going to search for a notebook in the Albrook mall.

Not sure if the rest of the world is aware of it.  But there has been some serious unrest here in Panama.  The police shot down one of the union leaders (already the second one killed in a year) and the next day there was protests everywhere, streets were blocked with burning tires and later in the day there were some clashes between police and protesters.  Colon is a very poor city, even to Panamanian standards, and definitely not a very safe place, even when there are no protests.

    Hi Frank,

Haven’t heard anything about Panama. All airwaves are saturated with election coverage….

Sounds like you’ve become an old hand at canal transits.

    Take care,
    Mark
