Getting closer

Made another small step in getting the web site running, was able to get the right theme installed. Not yet configured like it was, but it is getting there.

Today I had mixed success. Wanted to go extend my visa and cruising permit. Before that I was going to the bank to get some money to pay for the fees. Well, that did not work, that is not unusual, the ATM probably can´t contact the banks computer to verify the transaction. But, I have become very careful in making too many attempts from foreign ATM´s (they end up in you card being blocked). So, no money, which meant I did not have enough money for visa or cruising permit renewal.

Went back to the boat to get at least some money for the sailmaker. Well, that wasn´t even necessary. Repairing the chafe on the sail and the UV cover cost the incredible amount of $35. And it was finished in time, almost a novelty here in Panama (or the whole Caribbean for that matter).

One interesting thing happening here in Colon is that they are recording the next James Bond movie here. The scenes are supposed to play in Haiti, but that was considered too dangerous so they are recording it here (if Colon is safer than Haiti that makes Haiti quite scary really). Now, it turns out they need some sailboats as a backdrop for some scenes, and rumor has it they are paying for that. Well, that sounds like easy money. If I get the paper work done tomorrow I´ll see if I can be part of that.

Next Canal transit is likely to happen on Tuesday on board Sayonara, a 32 ft Cheoy Lee ketch, whose kaptain (Peter) I met before in Curacao. More details to follow later.
