Few remarks: when I talked to the journalist this was in a general context, not so much about the teenager sailing around the world. I did mention that the recent thing to sail around the world just to get in the Guinness Book of Records is a sad affair (what a sorry motivation it is). Whether a teenager has enough common sense and has enough patience to do it safely is probably something up to psychologists, not me. Good thing is: there is plenty of sea out there, just don’t go in the shipping routes. Also missing in the article is the notion of AIS (my `digital radar’), which makes the math of 20knots boat speed and sleeping for half hours a bit different (because it picks up boats 20nm away).
