Rounded Sri Lanka

We had a good run overnight, no fireworks in the sky and the sea became smoother as we got closer to Sri Lanka. We came closer to the shipping lane, but went between the freighters and Sri Lanka. 3 miles before rounding Sri Lanka’s south point the wind gave up on us and we had to start the engine.
The Sri Lankan fishermen seem to be happy to see a sailing boat come by, unfortunately some are so enthousiast that they almost run into us. So we try to politely wave at them and signal that we prefer to keep a safe distance. Fishing must pay pretty well, some of them were shooting pictures of us with their camera phone (neither Jeff nor me ever had one).
We are still motorsailing and this could go on for a while because there is not much wind in the forecast. Next waypoint is the 8th degree channel: 470 nautical miles to go.
