On his way to Santiago de Cuba

“Geen bericht is goed bericht” – no news means good news – as a good old Dutch saying says. And this is also the case for Frank on the Morning Light. Yesterday he called our parents again (he did so 10 days ago, but messages can take a long time travelling to the Dutch mainland). At that moment he was in Cienfuegos, a tourist spot where the mangrove did not hinder telephone signals. Everything is fine with Frank and his boat. During the last weeks he visited Cayo Largo and he travelled to Havana to get his passport, I guess on his bike. This weekend Frank wants to sail along the southern coast to Trinidad, depending on the winds this will take 1 or 2 days. According to the travel guide Trinidad is ‘a colonial pearl’ where the fine fleur of the Cuban sugarcane aristocracy once was living, long time ago. Santiago de Cuba is his next destination (and his last?) in Cuba, still a long way sailing from Trinidad.

    Hi Chris,

You might be thinking about Trinidad-the-island, that is coming later, this was Trinidad-the-city-in-Cuba (and, there also is a Trinidad, in Colorado, quite nice actually).

How are things in sunny Lafayette?

    Cheers,

    Frank.
