Update from St Helena

Finally arrived here, and another day later even got some internet, at
premium rates.

Trip from Simon’s Town was slower than anticipated. Rounding of the Cape,
was the struggle I had expected, high waves from many directions, and maybe
I carried too little sail out if caution. Not easy to make the eight
judgments, been away from the boat for 10 months. But after the Cape,
things started to slowly settle. Got a quite windy stretch after a few
days, but first weeks winds were quite good.

The second half, the winds vanished. Rarely the wind came over 10 knots,
when from behind, there is little progress. Was able to fly the MPS (multi
purpose spinnaker, or asymmetric or ….) for a lot of the time. But this
sails takes quite some work to set up just by yourself.

Was followed by a Yellowfin tuna for a couple of days, it took a lot of
interest in the rudder from my wind vane.

For the rest, very little happened.

Arriving on a Sunday in St Helena was far from exciting, this place runs
still at Napoleonic pace, and on Sundays even slower. No electronic money,
andmist things closed.

New neighbors arrived in the late afternoon, and they threw a rowdy party
with most of us in the anchorage.

Going to hang around for a few more days. Do some shopping, and some minor
repairs.
